I just listed a couple of new hairpin styles in my Etsy shop. They're part of my new Resort 2008 collection!
The Flor Blanca Hairpins feature lovely and delicate white organza flowers with sparkly centers (made with Swarovski crystals and seed beads). The multi-layered effect on these hairpins speaks of romance and tropical sunsets. The organza is a pure white color, perfectly accented by the Aurora Borealis effect on the Swarovski crystals.
This style is a departure from my regular beaded jewelry and accessories, since it incorporates fabric petals. Each petal is handcut and shaped to form a fabulous bloom. I have been experimenting with some new techniques for creating fabric flowers, and I hope to soon be able to launch a line of bridal accessories with satin, organza and tulle flowers.

A gorgeous selection of necklaces, earrings, hairpins, hairvines and combs will be gradually added to my shop, showcasing new colors and designs perfect for the Austral summer. These light-hearted pieces feature delightful colors, sophisticated materials and fabulous designs.
I took my inspiration from the luxurious colors of the tropical summer: deliriously blue skies, lush green vegetation, candy pink flowers and some more restrained and subtle shades of ivory and golden sands, opaline white surf and muted rose petals.
Tha Marina Necklace is the first piece of this new collection to debut in my shop. This fabulous necklace was crafted with freshwater pearls, blue Swarovski crystals, kyanite heishi beads and a lustrous turquoise briolette, all hand-knotted on light blue silk thread. This is a especially hotogenic piece, which is why it's feature din my new shop banner. :)
Soon my Etsy shop will be filled with more of my favorite variety of things: those that are shiny, sparkly and colorful. Here's a little preview!
My new Resort 2008 collection was inspired by the Austral summer, the kind of summer I get to experience every year. The pieces have a distinct tropical feel, some of them are elegant and refined, others are more casual and colorful.
The lovely Ikebana Hairpin was featured today in the very stylish blog Handcrafted: The Cure For The Common Wedding. This is what they said about my piece:
"Today's Indie Star is Pavoreal. There are some really pretty tiaras and combs, awesome hair vines, and great hairpins. It was this really unique hairpin that caught my eye first. I thought it was interesting that she is a graphic designer. Most of the people I have run into with a graphic design background are doing stationery. She has been working with wire jewelry since her teenage years and has developed a very nice style."

I adore the refreshing color palette of blues and whites, accented by moonstone and aquamarine rondelles. The centerpiece for the necklace and cascading earrings are some gorgeous aquamarine drops from Tamara's shop. The large briolettes look fantastic with Swarovski crystals in Pacific Opal, Light Azore and Indicolite, with some white Swarovski pearls sprinkled about. The blue flashes in the tiny moonstone rondelles give some lovely color accents as well!
This is one of the most luxurious and time-consuming pieces in this collection, but it still retains a modern and stylized design. The crystals and gemstones dangle form sterling silver chain and form clusters in the front part of the necklace. The back of the necklace is much more simple and light. The Waterworks is definitely a regal piece, perfect for a wedding!

I'm currently working on my new designs for Fall/Winter. I got a ton of new beads and some fabulous, fresh ideas that I'm dying to turn into sparkly pieces! The new autumn colors look really awesome, a decadent palette of gold, topaz, smoky quartz, champagne and copper, mixed with gold-filled wire and creamy freshwater pearls.
I'm also experimenting with new textures, such as iridescent mother-of-pearl, mixed with pearls and shiny crystals. I love the abstract feel of this piece: are those flowers? butterflies? leaves? I'm always trying to turn the nature-inspired pieces into contemporary tiaras and jewelry that reflect that inspiration but are much more modern-looking.

There are always people who have no morals, originality or scruples. Yesterday I came face to face with one of these crazy, immoral people. A user of Etsy started spamming the forums with their pyramidal schemes of making money, trying to lure the people of Etsy into giving them money, even using the name of an established Etsy Craft Fair, organized by another Etsyian, to give legitimacy to their claims. This person was all over the forums with their crazy ideas, even responding in a horrible manner when other people questioned their proposals.
They attracted a huge deal of attention toward themselves with these antics, so I checked their shop. I was surprised to see that they had stolen pictures from a respected online vendor of wedding accessories (AmysBridal) and intended to sell replicas of Amy’s products. I contacted the Etsy admins with this information, and then I checked their profile. It was horrifying when I found out that this user had copied my entire profile, even my bio, and changed minimal details to suit their needs. I contacted the admins again.
I went to check the forums, where this person was posting all over the place, insulting the Etsyians who complained of their forum spamming and scamming. When some other users found out that she had stolen Amy’s pictures and posted that in the forum, the scammer never responded, but quickly took down their Etsy listings. Someone found their Ebay shop and posted the link, and that’s when I realized that this person had blatantly copied one of my pictures and used it for their Ebay shop. They claimed to make a “Vera Wang hairpin”, which was my own Sky Hairvine.
That’s when I lost any patience I ever had for this person. I posted in the forum, with links to the Ebay item and my own Etsy listing, also pointing out the “similarities” of their profile and mine. All hell broke loose and this person tried to cover their tracks by taking down their profile and the Ebay item, but it’s too late for them. I have detailed proof of their disgusting practices, screenshots of the Etsy shop, Ebay item and Etsy profile and have reported them to AmysBridal, Etsy and Ebay.
I spent yesterday’s afternoon watermarking ALL of my pictures, so this never happens again. Please protect yourself, whether you are a crafter or a potential buyer. Watermark your photos, look around Etsy and Ebay and contact the artists whose work has been copied (if you find any). We will be immensely thankful for your help. And please remember: if you ever find my photos or descriptions in other sites not associated with me, you may be witnessing an intellectual property violation and potential scam. Protect yourself!

Inspired by MsBelle's blog! My 50th Etsy sale was this past Wednesday, and I sold this pretty hairvine to one of my fabulous customers:
The Moonlight Hairvine has always been one of my favorites. It's constructed of very thin sterling silver wire, twisted to for a delicate little garland. A combination of Swarovski crystals, moonstones, freshwater pearls and Celestial crystals was my inspiration for this piece. The subtle flashes of blue in the moonstones are echoed in the AB coating of the Swarovski crystals, while the warmth of the natural pearls is a great balance for the cool crystals and gemstones.
